A Wake-Up Call for the Pembina Valley Community

A Wake-Up Call for the Pembina Valley Community  – Why Now Is the Time to Secure Your Business and Property
The Pembina Valley Community has long been known as a peaceful, close-knit community where most people feel safe leaving their doors unlocked. However, as recent events have shown, times are changing — and it’s time we take security more seriously.
Earlier this week, Morden Police responded to a case where hand tools were stolen from a local business. The twist? The thief didn’t break in — they walked through an unlocked door. Luckily, the company had functioning surveillance cameras that captured the entire incident. Police were able to identify the suspect, recover the stolen items, and resolve the matter peacefully. No charges were laid.
We applaud the fact that the business had surveillance cameras installed and in use,” said the Police Chief. “We encourage business owners and residents to have cameras.”
The Pembina Valley RCMIP   has made several arrests for burglary at various businesses in Carman over the past month. The Security Camera was the tool that aided the investigation.
These incidents, while resolved quickly, are a clear sign that the area is not immune to crime, and that a sense of safety should never lead to complacency.
Crime Doesn’t Knock — It Walks In
As security professionals serving the Pembina Valley area, we often hear:
“Do I need cameras in a town like this?”
Our answer is simple: YES— and this is exactly why.
Theft, trespassing, and other minor crimes are gradually creeping into our peaceful neighborhoods. The best time to install a CCTV system isn’t after an incident — it’s before it happens.
Why CCTV Is More Important Than Ever
•Deterrence: Visible cameras discourage opportunistic crimes.
•Evidence: Video footage helps police respond faster and more effectively.
•Peace of Mind: Know what’s happening even when you’re not there.
•Insurance Protection: Footage can support insurance claims.
