It was a great weekend of fun and excitement at the Corn and Apple festival; the biggest street festival in the Province. However, the event also highlighted an urgent need for more effective security measures
On Monday, we were approached by a resident asking if we could get CCTV footage of a spot where a car was allegedly stolen from in 9th Street on Sunday. Unfortunately, a tent obstructed our view, preventing us from helping.
The Morden police also report that a trailer was stolen in Morden that same day. Although there was some footage showing the trailer being towed away by a van, the video quality was too poor to capture the license plate or even the faces of those involved. The police are now investigating the matter, but valuable details were lost because the footage wasn’t clear.
These events are not just unfortunate—they are a wake-up call. For too long, many have believed that CCTV is unnecessary in our community. But incidents like these show that security cameras are no longer optional; they are a needed safeguard for both homes and businesses.
Even more importantly, having CCTV is not enough if the cameras can’t produce clear, usable footage. What is the benefit of a camera that records, but cannot help identifying a suspect or vehicle?
This is why we are encouraging residents and businesses in Morden to consider upgrading outdated systems. As part of our ongoing commitment to community safety, we are currently running a promo to replace old cameras at a minimal cost—ensuring you get reliable, high-quality footage when it matters most.
Security is not about controlling or monitoring as most resident believe —it’s about protecting our environment and giving law enforcement the tools they need to act quickly and effectively. The events of last weekend should remind us of all that prevention is always better than regret.
We have a case in our client site. One7 Automotives, where someone broke and vandalise a car at the mechanic workshop. Instantly a notification was sent, and the face and act of the culprit was captured, The Police immediately identify the criminal, and he was apprehended immediately.
If you already have CCTV but the images are not clear, now is the time to act. If you don’t have a system yet, this is your sign to get one before it’s too late.
